From an engineering team to technology leader
The story of Industry Solutions began back in the 1990s, when a new industrial market was emerging in Slovakia. A group of skilled engineers decided to apply their expertise in electrical engineering and industrial automation, developing modern technological solutions that help businesses operate more efficiently, safely, and sustainably.
In 2013, the team became independent from Siemens, forming the company IS – Industry Solutions, a.s. Since then, this Žilina-based firm has proven that Slovak expertise can stand shoulder to shoulder with global players. Today, it employs hundreds of experts who manage the entire process – from project design and engineering, through equipment delivery and system integration, to installation, commissioning, and long-term servicing. The company operates in compliance with internationally recognized standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, ensuring quality, environmental responsibility, and occupational safety across all projects.
Serving industry and public infrastructure
Industry Solutions provides comprehensive electrical systems, industrial automation, and energy solutions across a wide range of sectors – from the wood-processing and construction industries to cement production, power generation, and critical infrastructure. Its solutions are often based on robust industrial communication standards such as PROFINET, enabling reliable data exchange and seamless system integration.
At the same time, the company applies its extensive know-how in the public sector, where it delivers smart solutions that combine functionality, efficiency, safety, and sustainability. These projects form the technological backbone of modern smart city concepts, helping municipalities better manage their infrastructure and resources.
One area where the company has truly pushed the limits of innovation is public lighting management. Through advanced smart lighting systems and intelligent street lighting control, IS – Industry Solutions has become a national leader in this field. A prime example is the city of Žilina, where the company completed a groundbreaking lighting modernization project worth over three million euros.
Smart solutions that save energy and costs
As part of the Žilina project, outdated discharge lamps were replaced with modern LED luminaires capable of individual control. Each light features its own control module, turning the entire urban lighting system into an intelligent, interconnected network.
This advanced smart lighting and street lighting infrastructure enables the city to reduce energy consumption by up to 60%, dynamically adjust lighting levels based on real-time conditions, and significantly lower operational costs. At the same time, streetlight poles can be transformed into multifunctional hubs – serving as charging points for electric vehicles, air-quality monitoring stations, or elements of intelligent pedestrian crossings.
These smart solutions clearly demonstrate how modern technology can support energy solutions that are not only efficient, but also environmentally responsible and people-focused.
Research, development, collab and achievements
Behind every innovation stands the company’s own research and development department, established more than fifteen years ago. Today, over twenty specialists work there, focusing on in-house R&D, developing new control system components, communication technologies, and smart solutions tailored to both industrial automation and smart city applications. Many of these systems are designed with scalability, cybersecurity, and industrial standards such as PROFINET in mind.
The company also collaborates closely with the University of Žilina and the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, offering students internships, thesis opportunities, and hands-on experience in real projects. This close connection between academia and industry helps cultivate new talent and supports continuous innovation.
Over the past thirty years, Industry Solutions has completed numerous major projects both at home and abroad. Among its partners is Kronospan, one of the world’s largest producers of particle boards, and the company is also involved in building a 10 MW photovoltaic power plant in Jaslovské Bohunice. In addition, it focuses on transport infrastructure modernization, highway control systems, advanced energy solutions, and AI-driven technologies.
