From an engineering team to technology leader
The story of Industry Solutions began back in the 1990s, when a new industrial market was emerging in Slovakia. A group of skilled engineers decided to apply their expertise in electrical engineering and automation, developing modern technological solutions to help businesses operate more efficiently.
In 2013, the team became independent from Siemens, forming the company IS – Industry Solutions, a.s. Since then, this Žilina-based firm has proven that Slovak expertise can stand shoulder to shoulder with global players. Today, it employs hundreds of experts who manage the entire process – from project design and equipment delivery to installation, commissioning, and servicing.
Serving industry and public infrastructure
Industry Solutions provides comprehensive electrical and automation systems across various sectors – from the wood-processing and construction industries to cement production and energy generation. The company also applies its experience in the public sector, combining functionality, efficiency, and safety in every project.
One area where the company has truly pushed the limits of innovation is public lighting management, where IS has become a national leader. A prime example is the city of Žilina, where the company completed a groundbreaking lighting modernization project worth over three million euros.
Smart solutions that save energy and costs
As part of the Žilina project, outdated discharge lamps were replaced with modern LED luminaires that can be individually controlled. Each light features its own control module, transforming the city into an intelligent, connected network.
Thanks to this system, the city can reduce energy consumption by up to 60%, adjust lighting levels according to real-time conditions, and even repurpose streetlight poles as charging points for electric vehicles, air-quality sensors, or smart pedestrian crossings.
These smart technologies show how innovation can serve people — making cities safer, greener, and more efficient while improving the overall quality of urban life.
Research, development, collab and achievements
Behind every innovation stands the company’s own R&D department, established more than fifteen years ago. Today, over twenty specialists work there, developing new components for control systems and smart technologies directly in Žilina.
The company also collaborates closely with the University of Žilina and the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, offering students internships, thesis opportunities, and hands-on experience. Many graduates stay on to become full-time members of the Industry Solutions team.
Over the past thirty years, Industry Solutions has completed numerous major projects both at home and abroad. Among its partners is Kronospan, one of the world’s largest producers of particle boards, and the company is also involved in building a 10 MW photovoltaic power plant in Jaslovské Bohunice. In addition, it focuses on transport infrastructure modernization, highway control systems, and AI-driven technologies.
